Hi, I am Dorothy Pierman creator of Pilates Werks.
As a WA state licensed massage therapist with 15 + years of ongoing
Pilates teaching experince, I am continually learning and refining my approach. The movement work offered at Pilates Werks is a blend of Pilates, yoga, breathwork and brain based fitness (Z Health and Performance). This unique blend offers you a personalized system for mindful body conditioning.
It is inspiring to witness amazing client transformations through strategic exercise application and deliberate practice. Whether in person or virtually, we get to work out and adapt in real time, making great gains possible.
In this work I meet people where they are and have a highly adaptive style.
So far I have worked with people of nearly all ages, stages and capability levels. Through my career I have led many hours of group Pilates classes including in the following venues: Balance Within, Pro Sports Club, Bellevue Club and Bellevue Family YMCA.
In my free time, I love taking photos in nature, studying and spending time with Josh (love of 20+ years) and Pace (studio cohort and greyhound ambassador).
B a c k g r o u n d
I graduated with a B.A. in Art History from SMU. I love art + creative movement and as soon as I experienced Pilates, I was hooked. The precision, coherence and the way the Pilates system can be applied to honor the inherent wisdom of the body is powerful and effective.
Initially trained & certified through Balance Within Movement Studio's 650 hour Pilates Teacher Training , I stayed on to teach there for several years.
After the first 3 years of teaching, I attended Brenneke for 1 year, earning my WA massage license(#00022586) deepening my understanding of the interconnectedness of all of the body systems.
Next I ventured to Del Mar, CA, the home base of Egoscue TM where I observed and trained in-house, earning a Posture + Alignment Specialist (PAS I) certification. Since then, I have also completed a 200 hour intensive Rasa YogaTeacherTraining, in Seattle.
Most recently I have been extensively studying + utilizing the leading edge, neurocentric or brain based fitness lens of Z - Health and Performance.
So far, I have completed certification for Z - Health: R-Phase, I-Phase, S-Phase, T-Phase, Structure and Next Evolution.
